Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif formally launched the new Pakistan energy vehicle policy for 2025-2030, aimed at promoting ecological and profitable transport in the country, Radio Pakistan reported.
When heading to the launch event, Sharif highlighted the policy approach in reducing carbon emissions, saving billions of currency rupees, promoting innovation and training young people to take Pakistan to a greener future.
“Pakistan is one of the most vulnerable countries in terms of climate change, despite contributing little to the phenomenon,” he said, pointing out the growing frequency and intensity of climate -induced disasters, such as sudden floods, cloud bubbles and floods about the glacial lake plow. “With every year that passes, these disasters cause more loss of lives and properties,” he added.
Sharif requested global support, urging developed nations, particularly in the West, to contribute to relieve the miseries caused by climate change and help vulnerable countries to build resistant infrastructure.
The special assistant of the Prime Minister on Industries and Production Harooon Akhtar Khan described the policy of electric vehicles as a plan for the Clean Transportation Revolution of Pakistan.
He pointed out that the country was moving beyond the assembly of the vehicle to the production of batteries, cargo equipment and advanced parts.

Khan also pointed out the financial benefits, stating that Pakistan spends billions of dollars annually in oil imports and that urban air pollution costs the economy more than RS105 billion in productivity and losses of medical care.
He stressed that executing an electric motorcycle today costs less than a third of the cost of gasoline per kilometer.
The policy, which includes financial reforms, toll exemptions and free registration, aims to make electric mobility accessible to all, including households, delivery passengers, transporters and businesses.
During the ceremony, the prime minister also distributed free electric bicycles to high -performance students as part of the initiative.
