- Rokid glasses are throwing themselves internationally
- They are ready to cost $ 599 (around £ 355 / au $ 920) and will be launched in November
- These are cheaper, but later they arrive from the smart goggles of the finish line with an exhibition
We are just a couple of weeks of goal Connect, where we will probably see the company’s first intelligent glasses of the company with a screen, but a rival has hit them with a couple of specifications that seem to go face to face with what Meta offers.
This is because we have just had the international launch event for the Rokid glasses, which are now in Kickstarter if you want to get a pair with a limited time discount (which varies from 20 to 15%, depending on the early treatment you can hook).
At a glance, many similarities share with the existing intelligent specifications of the goal: we are talking about a 12MP camera, open ears speakers and a Qualcomm Snapdragon AR1 chipset. You will also get an AI assistant on board, which is “chatgpt 5 empowered”, if you have an Internet connection.
However, these Rokid glasses take things to a higher level, since they also have a couple of micro LED wave guide screens that serve as a notice screen for addresses, translation in real time and as an administrator.
Another feature caused by promotional images is that glasses can, as well as intelligent goal specifications, identify things that can be seen when requested. Even so, with the screen, they will also highlight what they have identified. This would be very useful to make sure there is no confusion between what I wanted to know more and what the glasses inform him.
These screens seem to seem conveniently in their vision, but a little out of the way so as not to distract too much, although they are not in full color. You can only see text and green forms.
Anyway, it certainly seems that Rokid’s specifications could be a true winner if they can live up to advertising. Especially because, even before any early bird discount, they are ready to cost $ 599 (around £ 355 / au $ 920).
That is considerably less than the target specifications of $ 800 (£ 590 / au $ 1,230) it is rumored that they cost.
However, I would not count goal out, since in the smart glasses race, they have a proven history with some very elegant (but functional) specifications with their Ray-Ban and more recently their Oakley collaborations.
In addition, rumors suggest that the finish goggles has a full color screen, although it will only be visible to one eye. This, however, would make it a more versatile screen.
As for the price difference, when it is taken into account that the finishing specifications always come with a load case (so presumably also its new model also) it is only about being approximately $ 100 more expensive, since Rokid’s glasses with a load case will cost him $ 698 (around £ 395 / au $ 1,075).
It is also likely that finishing specifications really arrive before, since Connect is in September and technology is usually launched within a month later. Rokid glasses are not sent from Kickstarter to November.
While this launch does not expose a clear winner or loser between Rokid and Meta, it emphasizes that the Smart Glasses game is not a horse race, certainly not to the extent that VR has felt in recent years.
We will have to wait and see what a goal is debuting in Meta Connect, and as always, we will have to try both glasses before emitting our final verdict, but Rokid’s specifications are impressive, and if he can hit the landing, goal (and any person looking to buy a couple of intelligent specifications) will want to pay attention.
