Stalker 2: Heart of ChornobylYevhenii Kulyk technical producer has revealed that GSC Game World aims to launch the game on PS5 at 4K 60 pictures per second (SPF) in quality mode.
Speaking in an interview with Techradar Gaming at Gamescom 2025, Kulyk confirmed that the PS5 Pro version will admit 4K 60 FPS when playing both in performance and quality modes, although more textures have been added to improve the latter.
On the other hand, the Base version of PS5 will offer quality mode at 4K 30 fps, while the performance mode is currently in 2K 60 fps, but the study points to 4K 60 FPS at the launch.
“At this time, we go to 2K in 60 for the base version, but we are trying to reach that 4K to hit the parity too,” Kulyk said. “Therefore, we want to admit, at the launch, 4K in the base version for quality and performance.”
The developer explained that the team has included additional improvements with the PS5 Pro version by changing the scalability configuration, which should improve game environments.
“It may notice that in the professional version, it is a better way to experience the atmosphere of the game, because we modify the quality of the shadow. They adjusted some resolution techniques,” Kulyk said. “We adjust VFX, shading quality and volumetric things, such as volumetric clouds and volumetric lighting, so it is quite remarkable, but still, PlayStation 5 is an absolutely good way to play with our game and experience it at full speed.”
The director of World Communications of GSC Game, Zakhar Bocharov, also added that he believes that “the most beautiful version” is the PS5 Pro quality mode, but admitted that he would still prefer to play the game in performance mode with 60 FPS guaranteed.
Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl It is now available in Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox Game Pass and PC, but will reach PS5 and PS5 Pro on November 20, 2025.
