Islamabad:
In the light of the emergency of flood ongoing throughout the country, the Energy Division has issued an urgent alert to all distribution companies (disc), directing them to guarantee an uninterrupted power supply during heavy rains and floods.
According to an official statement from the Power Division, all discos have received instructions to take immediate and special measures to protect electricity infrastructure, including substations, feeders and control rooms. Operating equipment must remain on a maximum alert and be fully prepared to respond to any emergency that may arise due to the flood situation.
A flood monitoring cell within the Energy Division has been established to close developments.
In addition, all discos have been ordered to send situation reports twice a day, with daily obligation updates to the division.
Power’s division has also emphasized the importance of close coordination with local disaster authorities to guarantee a timely and effective response.
The matter has been classified as “very important and urgent” by the power division.
