Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman, head of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan, has accused the country’s leaders of prioritizing US approval over addressing internal challenges such as poverty and inequality.
“Even freedom from prison and power depend on the United States,” he said during a public speech in Lower Dir. “More than 100 million people live in poverty and yet our rulers indulge in luxury.”
Calling for unity among Pakistanis, Hafiz Naeem stressed that his party respects all religions and sects, stressing that “only a system based on the Quran and Hadith can bring prosperity to this country.”
In a scathing critique, he called the United States “the world’s biggest terrorist” and questioned its silence in the face of Israeli atrocities in Palestine. “Rivers of blood flow in Palestine, but the United Nations and the United States remain indifferent to the bodies of Palestinian children.”
The Jamaat-e-Islami chief reiterated his party’s mission to implement an Islamic system in Pakistan, stating that it was the only path to national progress and justice.
He further criticized the nation’s elite for their apathy towards the struggles of ordinary Pakistanis, saying: “While the people suffer, the ruling class continues its extravagance.”
