Ogra Petroleum orders, gas sector to adopt digital payments


Islamabad:

The Petroleum and Gas Regulatory Authority has directed all the graduate entities under their regulation to adopt online digital payment solutions with the impulse of the government by an economy without cash.

According to the Directive, the WTO, the Public Gas Services, the GNC stations, the GNP operators and the LNGs, the refineries and the lubricant marketing specialists must introduce and show digital payment options, particularly the RAAST QR code of SBP, at their points of sale. Ogra said that customers will not be allowed to opt for clients who opt for digital transactions. All entities must guarantee total compliance before October 31, 2025.

The authority said the movement supports the SBP digitalization unit and is expected to improve financial inclusion, transparency and operational efficiency throughout the energy sector. Companies have received instructions to coordinate with banks, microfinance institutions or electronic money institutions to obtain free -cost QR Rast codes for timely implementation.
