- Anthrope’s threat intelligence report describes the acceleration of AI attacks
- AI is now feeding all parts of the cyber process
- One of those attacks has been identified in ‘Viber Hacking’
One of the largest companies in the world, Anthrope, warned that his chatbot has been “armed” by threat actors to “commit large -scale robbery and extortion of personal data.” The Anthrope threat intelligence report details the ways in which technology is being used to carry out sophisticated cyber attacks.
Harmonized AI is making the most fast, more aggressive and more successful computer pirates, and the threat report describes that ransomware attacks that would have previously required years of training can now be developed with very few technical skills.
These cyber attacks are lucrative for computer pirates, with AI now used for fraudulent activities such as stealing credit card information and identity robbery, with attackers even using AI to analyze stolen data.
“Environments”
The defenders have warned for a long time that AI is going down the barriers for cybercrime, allowing computer pirates with low qualification to carry out complex attacks, but the LLMs are now helping criminals at each point in the attack process.
The report describes a particular threat that lasts the “environments”, which refers to a campaign in which Claude was used to climb and build a data extortion scheme. The name is a reference to the “vibration coding” method of software development that is largely based on AI to generate code and create applications.
The execution environment of the CLAUD Code was used; ‘Automates recognition, collection of credentials and network penetration, which can affect at least 17 different organizations in the last month in government, medical care, emergency services and religious institutions’.
Anthrope’s investigations found that cybercriminals went to a variety of sectors, focusing on data theft and extortion. These attacks resulted in “the commitment of personal records, including medical care data, financial information, government credentials and other confidential information, with direct rescue demands that occasionally exceed $ 500,000”.
