- Three more macbooks are now considered obsolete
- 2015 MacBook Air Air and MacBook Pros of 2017 (13 inches and 15 inches)
- Apple does not repair obsolete technology, although it could still replace the battery
Apple has just declared that three of its MacBooks are now obsolete: a designation that gives its technology at some point after completing seven years (from when the technology was available to buy, not when it bought it specifically).
These recently designated MacBooks are 11 -inch MacBook Air from 2015, as well as MacBook Pros (13 inches and 15 inches) of 2017.
This is not a surprise as I reported a few years ago when Apple declared that these laptops were declared “vintage”, the first step towards the obsolete.
But this announcement serves as a reminder that it is time to remove that decade machine (or about a decade) and replace it with something new. If you are looking for advice on what to collect below, visit our guides the best MacBooks and Mac or the best laptops (if you are not so married to Apple).
As Apple’s own website explains that it will not serve the hardware of obsolete devices, and service providers will no longer be able to ask for pieces for them.
This means that when your obsolete Apple product is broken, it is broken forever unless you can save a part of another machine, or you are lucky to find a repair workshop with an old parts supply.
For MacBooks, the only exception is that Apple sometimes offers a battery repair system extended for up to 10 years (according to the availability of bias). Therefore, there is the possibility that I can maintain its old laptop that advances for a while longer, but does not have it, since it might not have luck if Apple’s battery supply has dried.
Although we hope you have updated its technology a little before this designation that is delivered, since none of these MacBooks has admitted the last launch of macOS by some cycles. This means that your aged laptop could be a higher safety risk.
Beyond that, everything that the latest generation of Tahoe 26 has to offer will also be lost to offer, including the new and elegant ‘Liquid Glass’ look.
