HYDERABAD:

On Sunday, police claimed to have arrested a suspect who was demanding extortion from local doctors alleging links to the notorious underworld Don, D-Company.

Police said Muzaffar Ahmed Sindhu had allegedly demanded huge sums of money to extort doctors through WhatsApp and threatened dire consequences if they refused to pay the money.

The doctors’ complaints led the Hyderabad police to form a specialized team that arrested the suspect Sindhu in a short time using modern technology.

Police said the accused Sindhu had confessed that he had been unemployed for months after years in the medical business. According to the police, the accused used his knowledge of the medical community to attack the doctors, creating a fake WhatsApp account with the help of a woman’s phone number to send threats.

Police have registered cases against Sindhu at Qasimabad, Cantonment and Hatri police stations. Further investigation was underway, police said.
