Complete spoilers continue immediately For the successful episode of HBO Max Show. Return now if you haven’t seen it yet.
The third chapter of this season, entitled ‘Another Rick Up My Sleeve’, drops an important bomb that adds a new layer of complexity of ‘Will The Thre The’ The Will Thre T between Dynamic between the peacemaker, the real name Chris Smith and Harcot.
It also has everything to do with one of the best cameos of the best HBO Max programs. The individual in question? Rick Flag JR, who was played by Joel Kinnaman in 2016 Suicide squad film and 2021 The suicide squad movie.
Before Pacifier 2The launch, industry experts suggested that Kinnaman would appear in the DC Universe (DCU) television series. His appearance in ‘Another Rick Up My Sleeve’ through a setback scene, so it will not be a shock for anyone who saw that rumor.
That is However, important is what establishes the third entry of this season as soon as it begins: that being, Flag Jr and Harcourt had no attached sex before the events of the events of The suicide squad. For more details about where this film fits in the complicated Timeline of the DC movie, see my DC movies in the order guide.
But I’m deviating. Harcourt makes Jr Jr clear that he is not interested in having a real relationship with him. She also reminds her that she is actually seeing a sorceress called June, whom DC fans will know for her lovely meta-human pseudonym, so she is technically deceiving June with Harcourt. However, it is also clear that, despite suggesting that they are just friends, Harcourt has developed some feelings for him in the midst of his situation.
That is important when it comes to his reluctance to get with Smith. Remember, in The suicide squadThe third and last act, Smith kills Flag Jr. Smith does it after the latter threatens to filter highly sensitive information, which Flag Jr finds on a hard drive, to the press about the experiments that are performed on the island of Maltese court. In Peacemaker, Fuking said Intel would cause an international crisis. Long short history: the fighting couple and Smith ends up stabbing the flag through the heart with a broken wall tile.
Given that Harcourt knows that Smith is responsible for the death of Flag Jr, it makes a lot of sense why he gave him cold shoulder for much of the first season of the series. Since then, Smith has heated, but his continuous rejection of his romantic advances confirms that he would not only feel guilty for being with the man who killed his former lover, but also put himself in the sights of a vindictive Rick Flag SR, who is pumping many Argus resources to find and take Smith.
Things become equally complicated for Smith in ‘Another Rick in my manga’ too.
After discovering a parallel world through the Quantum deployment chamber in season 2 Episode 1, and then traveling to this alternative universe the last episode to send a text message with the text of this Harcourt dimension, Smith passes almost the entire episode 3 in said parallel universe.
Unfortunately for Smith, a version of Rick Flag JR is still alive and well in this universe, although one of those who is more nonsense compared to the alpha male we saw Suicide squad and The suicide squad.
Understandably, Flag Jr is alive in this alternative reality activates Smith’s PTSD about his murder of the flag Jr of the DCU, which leads to a brief uncomfortable conversation between them. To worsen things, the flag of this kingdom has also been dating its version of Harcourt, who had also left (and since it broke) with the peace of this universe, who has since been killed by the Pacifier of the DCU at the premiere of this season. If we think that the dynamics of Smith and Harcourt was complicated in the best case, the introduction of this other dimension and the Pacifier’s budget that will only make things even more complicated for all involved.
We will see how Flag Jr’s Ghost, in addition to Smith’s trips to this parallel world, continues to affect Smith and Harcourt’s relationship as the DCU Chapter One program continues.
