The availability of Christian McCaffrey is once again a great question sign for the San Francisco 49ers a few days before his first game of the season against the Seattle Seahawks.
However, the corridor himself does not seem worried at all if he will play in Seattle on Sunday.
“Always plan to play,” he told reporters, through ESPN. “I feel very good about where I am. Unfortunately, when you have the history of injuries that I have, sometimes when you do not practice, things are disproportion. But as I said, I feel great.”

McCaffrey considered it questionable to play in the lesions report of the 49ers on Friday due to a calf problem. It was included as a limited participant in practice on Thursday, and after not practicing on Friday, fans wonder if this is Déjà Vu after last year’s injury debacle.
McCaffrey was listed as questionable to enter week 1 last season, and insisted that he was fine and ready to play against New York’s jets. But, on the other hand, he landed in the wounded reserve when his calf stiffness turned out to be Bilateral Achilles tendinitis. McCaffrey ended up playing only four games last season.

So, like 49ers fans see a calf ailment again in the injury report, there is an skepticism that leads to Sunday.
Chief coach Kyle Shanahan did not come into details about McCaffrey’s injury during his availability of media, just confirming that he did not participate on Friday. McCaffrey, on the other hand, gave some background about what he was trying.

“It is not supposed to enter something that happened, but I felt that it was the intelligent to not finish the practice (Thursday),” McCaffrey said. “I have been there before and I have been my worst enemy in situations like that, and I was proud of myself for not doing that again. As I said, I went through an entire training field. I feel very good about where I am.”
During the training camp, McCaffrey had no injury problem, since Shanahan and others praised their performance in practice. He did not play in any preseason game for obvious reasons, since San Francisco wanted to be cautious.
But the season begins on Sunday, and the hopes of the 49ers playoffs are linked to the number 23 acting as it did two seasons ago when the team arrived at the Super Bowl.

“At the end of the day, if you can play, you play in the game,” he said. “It’s as simple as that.”
