The sister of the star of the Minnesota Timberwolves, Naz Reid, was shot dead in an apartment complex in New Jersey on Saturday, prosecutors said.
Police officers from the municipality of Jackson responded to a call on shots in an apartment complex around 11 am on Saturday. The officers who responded found a deceased woman, identified as Toraya Reid, with multiple gunshot wounds, said Ocean County Prosecutor’s office.

Shaquille Green, 29, in the municipality of Jackson, was seen running on a road near the complex and the officers were able to stop him without incident, the authorities said. Green, who was determined to have been dating Reid, was later accused of Reid’s death.
Green was accused of murder, possession of a weapon for an illegal purpose and illegal possession of a weapon, said the prosecutor’s office. He was taken to the Ocean County prison.

Naz Reid was born in Asbury Park, New Jersey, just a few miles from where the incident took place. He went to high school in Roselle and then played university basketball in LSU. He published two photos of himself with his sister when they were younger in their Instagram stories.
Reid talked about his sisters Toraya and Jakahya, in an interview with the magazine MPLS.ST.Paul in 2023. He called Toraya, his older sister, “Super Protective.”
“She treats us as if it were our mother,” he said.
