President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday paid tributes to the Pakistan Navy for their contribution to national security.
In his separated messages on the day of the Navy held on September 8, the president and the prime minister recalled how the Navy during the different wars with India protected the nation from the threats of the Archirival.
Zardari said that the day is an opportunity to proudly remember the daring feats of our naval warriors and recognize the vital role that the Navy continues to play to protect the maritime borders of Pakistan.
He gave tribute to the martyrs whose sacrifices would never be forgotten and also greet the Ghazis whose firmness was still a source of national pride. “His courage strengthens the resolution of the entire nation,” he added.
The president said that the 1965 war reminded them how, with courage and resolution, the Navy of Pakistan wrote a golden chapter in history upon reaching the enemy waters. “The Somnath operation became a symbol of audacity and ability, inspiring generations of coming sailors.”
Since then, he said, the Navy of Pakistan has constantly evolved towards a modern and multidimensional force.
“Today, their responsibilities go far beyond the preparation of combat, from the protection of sea trade to participate in international peace missions and disaster relief. This versatility reflects the professionalism of the Navy and its unwavering dedication to the nation,” he added.
