- A leak has published battery specifications for the iPhone 17 series
- Reveals greater capabilities almost in all areas
- Iphone 17 air battery levels are much lower than their brothers
With just over a remaining day until Apple’s “Awe Awe Delwping” event begins, we are still receiving last minute rumors that claim to spill beans about what Apple will announce. The latest is a treasure of information about the battery capabilities of the iPhone 17 series, and contains some fascinating surprises that we did not see coming.
The information was provided by Leaker Shimppleplepro in X, who claims to have found the data in a Chinese regulatory database. If it is true, that escapes a degree of reputation.
Interestingly, all iPhone 17 models, except the iPhone 17 base, have two different battery capabilities listed. It is believed that this could mean that the iPhone 17 Air, the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max will have two different capabilities depending on whether the phone is equipped with an ESIM slot, with the versions that lack this characteristic with greater battery capabilities. An ESIM compartment is included in iPhone models in some regions and is excluded in others.
It is not clear why the iPhone 17 only has one entrance and if this is related to a model equipped with an ESIM or one that stays without.
Here is a quick breakdown of the different rumored capabilities:
Model |
Without esim |
With Esim |
---|---|---|
iPhone 17 |
3,692 mAh (above 3.7% vs iPhone 16) |
3,692 mAh (above 3.7% vs iPhone 16) |
iPhone 17 Air |
3,036h |
3,149 mAh (33% vs iPhone 16 plus) |
iPhone 17 Pro |
3,988ma |
4.252MAH (18.7% vs iPhone 16 Pro) |
iPhone 17 pro max |
4,823ma |
5,088 mAh (Unco 8.6% vs iPhone 16 pro max) |
The numbers suggest that almost all iPhone in the range will obtain a battery increase compared to the iPhone 16 series.
The exception is the iPhone 17 Air, which could see a great 33% drop against iPhone 16 Plus. This is explained by the fact that the iPhone 16 Plus had a spacious battery due to its large size, while the air of the iPhone 17 is expected to be light in the front of the battery due to its thin frame.
ESIM benefits
It is unusual to see that Apple brings a greater battery capacity to iPhone models that have an ESIM slot; In the past, the company has maintained equal battery levels, regardless of whether its iPhone has had an ESIM or not. But the difference in the iPhone 17 line suggests that Apple will use the additional space unemployed by the SIM card tray to expand battery size.
If the figures are precise, this will also be the first time that an iPhone offers a battery capacity of more than 5,000 mAh, with the 5,088MAH of iPhone 17 pro max beyond that milestone.
It is worth noting that a greater battery capacity does not necessarily mean that the batteries of the iPhone 17 series will last longer, since Apple could implement some new features that drain the battery more. We will not know with certainty until the astonishment event on Tuesday, so be sure to tune in to see the latest updates.
