- Canon toasts launch event for September 9, 2025 at 2pm BST / 11pm aest
- Instagram Teaser subtitled “open your world to what follows”
- It was rumored that Canon Eos C50, a direct rival of Sony FX3
A new Canon camera is about to land, and the company has just left a great clue about one of its characteristics.
As we report last week, Canon will launch something tomorrow, something that looks a lot like a new compact movie camera prepared to face Sony FX3. Before the launch (which you can see live on YouTube: move down to watch the integrated video), the company has published an Instagram video entitled: “Open your world to What What What What Whats. 9.9.25”.
The video shows a lateral silhouette of the new camera, which is interesting, but it is the choice of words in that legend that excites us even more. The use of “open” seems like a clear clue that this camera will admit the Video Open Gate recording, using the entire image sensor surface.
Open Gate is appreciated by filmmakers and content creators due to their support to cut videos in any aspect relationship.
Although the Panasonic rival gives users the recording of the open door with several of its video cameras, such as the Lumix S1 II, the function has not been available in a Canon camera before, so its inclusion here would be great news.
Go back tomorrow
Be sure to consult tomorrow to get complete details of the new canon launch, which is rumored that is called Canon EOS C50 and comes with a 32MP full frame sensor and a weight of less than 700 g (without a lens or other attachments). You can see the live launch using the youtube video integrated below.

Attend
We will publish a story about whatever Canon is cooking. If you are a cameraman, filmmaker or creator of content excited about the rumored EOS C50, make us know what characteristics and specifications you would like to see in the next Cinema Eos de Canon camera.
