LeBron James was the author of an essay in the state of the state people of China daily on Monday, almost six years after a position of the former general manager of the Houston Rockets, Daryl Morey, lit a storm of fire in the country and undo the relationship between the Chinese government in the NBA.

The words of the Los Angeles Lakers star occurred when the Forever King tour ended where Shanghai and Chengdu visited. The tour coincided with its twentieth anniversary of Touring Asia with Nike.

“The enthusiasm and kindness of Chinese friends touch me deeply, and all I can do is give everything in each game to express my gratitude,” he wrote in the newspaper, through Reuters. “I hope to contribute to the development of Chinese basketball.”

The Lakers and the Brooklyn Nets were in Asia for a tour before the start of the 2019-20 season and occurred when Hong Kong residents protested against a security law. Morey wrote in X, then called Twitter: “Fight for freedom. Put on Hong Kong.” The post caused a large crack between the NBA and China, since some Chinese stations refused to the emerging games.

According to the reports, the NBA ends another new format for this season’s All-Star game

Later, Morey would eliminate the tweet and launch a statement, saying: “I did not intend that my tweet causes any offensive for rock fans and my friends in China. I was simply expressing a thought, based on an interpretation, of a complicated event. I have had many opportunities from that tweet to listen and consider other perspectives.”

James, at that time, “broke” with the players about Morey’s tweet, according to a ESPN report in 2022. He also spoke once the Lakers returned to the United States, which suggests that those who are “poorly informed or not educated about something” should not talk about geopolitical issues.

The South China Morning Post pointed out on Monday that James thanked his Chinese fans for his reception.

“Every time I come here, my family and I are welcome. I am deeply moved by the hospitality and kindness of our Chinese friends. All I can do is give everything in each party and express my gratitude to all,” he wrote.

It seems that China has cooled in its tensions with the NBA in recent years with the games that slowly return to Chinese broadcasters and transmission services.
