Rawalpindi:

The defense lawyers interrogated three witnesses on Monday during the hearing of a case filed against former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi for allegedly misuse of the rules of the state gift repository to obtain a set of jewels that were presented during the Imran period.

A special court listened to the case, known as Toshakhana-II, in a courtroom inside the Adiala prison, where the couple is arrested.

During the prison hearing, chaired by the special judge Shahrukh Arjemand, the statement of former personal secretary of former prime minister, Inam Shah, was recorded, while the interrogation of three other witnesses was also completed.

Imran and Bushra were presented in the courtroom. Defensor lawyers interrogated customs witnesses Rabia Samad, Sana Saeed and ADC Abdullah Khan in their registered statements.

The sisters of the founder of PTI, the sister -in -law of Bushra Bibi, Mehrunisa Ahmed, and the leader of the PTI, Senator Ali Zafar were also present at the Court.

Until now, the interrogation of statements of 14 witnesses of prosecution has been completed. A prosecutor’s witness, Azeem Manzoor, was retired as unnecessary.

On behalf of the accused, the lawyers Qausain Faisal and Arshad Tabraiz appeared, while the special public prosecutor Zulfiqar Abbas Naqvi and Umair Majid Malik represented the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).

At the next hearing, the defense will interrogate the statement of witness Syed Inam Shah. The audience was postponed until September 10.

Meanwhile, an anti -terrorism court in Islamabad listened to multiple cases against PTI leaders on Monday, including those related to the protest of November 26, alleged electoral rig and the demonstrations of Azadi March.

Judge Tahir Abbas Supra presided over the procedures and commented that the Ministry of Law has not yet responded to his letter on the founder of PTI. He said that a reminder would be sent today, urging the State to clarify whether it is about pursuing these cases.

The court marked the accused assistance and postponed the hearings. The copies of the Challan were distributed in the case of the Kohsar Police Station, while the requests for exemption from the appearance were presented by the leaders of PTI, Omar Ayub and Ali Nawaz Awan.

Judge Supra commented that Omar “falls only when the Court was convened”, to which the defense lawyer replied that the mentioned video was old, not recent.
