Miranshah:
The security forces killed eight terrorists on Monday, including some Tehreek-E-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) commanders, during an operation in Datta Khel Tehsil of the Northern Wazirist district. The operation was ongoing until the presentation of this report, with security sources that claimed that more than two dozen terrorists were still hidden in the area and using villagers as human shields.
Once again, Datta Khel resonated with the sound of shots and explosions, since the local population remained confined to their homes and faced food shortages and other needs.
Security sources said that 30-35 terrorists still hid in different places and used women, children and elderly as human shields to avoid air attacks or drones.
They added that the terrorists killed on Monday belonged to the Hafiz Gul Bahadur Badri and Jaish-E-Mehdi Caravan group. Among them were Hamedullah aka Gud, an explosive expert; Noor Muhammad Afghan, known for planting explosives through drones and quadcopters; and Umar, a TTP member since 2009.
According to local sources, the operation in the mountainous areas of Khursin and Doga Machha has made life unbearable for residents.
In a nearby mud house, an older woman, Fatima Bibi, said they never wanted the situation in their town to deteriorate to the point that once again they would have to leave the houses of their ancestors and displacement of the face. “We don’t know where to go,” he added.
A local school teacher said that educational activities had been suspended for three days and that children could not leave their homes. “On the one hand there are explosions, and on the other is the operation. We are trapped in the middle and being crushed.”
