Pakistan has strongly condemned Israel’s air attack in Doha aimed at Hamas leaders, qualifying a “more dangerous provocation” that threatens regional peace and stability.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in a statement on X, said the attack was “illegal and atrocious”, since he endangered the lives of innocent civilians by hitting a residential area in the capital of Qatar.
“This act of aggression of Israel is totally unjustified, a shameless violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Qatar, and constitutes a more dangerous provocation that could boost regional peace and stability,” he said.
Expressing solidarity with Qatar’s leadership, he added that Pakistan “is firmly with the state of Qatar, as well as the people of Palestine against Israel’s aggression.”
Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar also condemned the strike, describing it as “representable” and a shameless violation of international law. He stressed that Pakistan “reiterates his unwavering support for the people and the state of Qatar in these serious times.”
Israel confirmed that he had carried out the attack when Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said: “Israel initiated it, Israel carried out and Israel assumes all responsibility.”
Qatar, where Hamas has long maintained his political base, strongly condemned the “coward” strike, with his Ministry of Foreign Affairs declaring a “shameless violation of international laws and norms” that represented a serious threat to Qatar’s security and residents.
Doha’s spokesman, Majed Al Ansari, said in X that Qatar “will not tolerate this reckless Israeli behavior.”
The international community also expressed alarm. The UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres, described the attack as a “flagrant violation of sovereignty”, urging all parties to work towards a permanent fire.
Saudi Arabia condemns and denounces in the stronger terms the brutal Israeli aggression and a flagrant violation of the sovereignty of the brotherhood state of Qatar.
The declaration of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs warned of “the serious consequences resulting from the persistence of Israeli occupation in its criminal violations and its flagrant violation of the principles of international law and all international standards.”
Pope Leo described the situation as “very serious”, while Saudi Arabia denounced the strike as “brutal aggression” with serious consequences for the region.
Lebanese president, Joseph Aoun, said he was part of Israel’s “series of aggressions” against regional stability. Iran described the “dangerous” strike and a violation of international law, while the EAU condemned him as a “coward” escalation and promised solidarity with Qatar.
Turkiye said that aiming at the Hamas delegation during the high fire conversations in progress showed that Israel had no intention of peace, but instead he was looking for “expansionist policy” and using “terrorism as a state policy.”
Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman said that Israel’s attack on Hamas officials in Qatar is “dangerous” and a “violation of international law,” the Iranian media said.
Jordan and the United Arab Emirates also condemned Israeli attacks in Doha.
