SC Additional Registrar Relieved after 5 months

Islamabad:

A judicial officer, Waseemur Rehman Khan Khakwani, appointed in the delegation as the additional registrar of the Supreme Court (judicial), has been relieved of his duties after only five months.

The additional (judicial) registrar position is considered one of the most crucial in the SC, since the officer in this role is responsible for setting cases before banks.

Sources in the SC told Express PAkGazette that Khakwani, a judicial officer of the Punjab Judicial Power, became “a victim of office policy.” As a result, he asked CJP Yahya Afridi to relieve him before completing his term of deputation.

According to Insiders, a powerful section within the SC administration was pressing for the continuation of the former additional (judicial) Nazar Abbas registrar, who currently serves as general director (judicial wing) by contract.

Abbas was initially appointed for six months, a term that ended this month, but since then a month has been granted.

Nazar Abbas has previously drawn judicial scrutiny. A bank led by Judge Syed Mansoor Ali Shah issued a notice for not fixing a case in violation of a court order.

Although the contempt notice was later withdrawn, Abbas presented an Intra-Court appeal before a larger bank of five judges headed by Judge Jamal Khan Commandkhail.

Finally he withdrew his appeal, but the largest bank has not yet issued reasons in the matter.

The detailed trial is expected to clarify that, after the 26th constitutional amendment, a regular bank cannot listen to cases that involve the interpretation of the law and the Constitution.

Khakwani’s sudden departure has asked questions within the legal circles about why he tried to renounce prematurely, especially because the SC had issued a detailed statement at the time of his appointment highlighting his credentials.

“With more than 16 years of service, Mr. Khakwani provides extensive experience in the award of criminal, civil and family cases, having served as a district judge and sessions and additional district judge and sessions in multiple jurisdictions.”

“His mandate includes presiding over the judgments, the appraisals of appeal and the supervision of the subordinate courts, together with promoting judicial reforms and defending the standards of equity and operational efficiency.”

“More recently, he served as an additional senior registrar in the Superior Court of Lahore, Bahawalpur Bench, where he further perfected his administrative and leadership capabilities. In his new role in the Supreme Court, Mr. Khakwani will lead the judicial operations, the agilized case management processes and the support initiatives to improve the efficiency and transparency of the transparency of the transparency of the transparency of the transparency of the transparency of Justice.

Currently, deputy occupy several key positions in the Supreme Court. SC registered itself is a retired official. This situation has promoted frustration among permanent SC employees, who resort to the deputy who are in the main roles.

Three senior permanent officials of the Court, Mujahid, Zulfiqar and Safdar, have also been transferred to different records.
