It seems that just a week can pass without OpenAI that performs some type of meaning in reaction to a violent reaction of Chatgpt users. Hot after its decision to maintain older LLM LLM models, the last change of U of Sam Altman and Crew is to cancel the plans to eliminate the standard voice mode after many Chatgpt users complained.
Openai’s initial plan was to replace the standard voice mode, a basic but functional voice mode, with the most interactive advanced voice mode, which has more options, and change the name of the new service as simply the chatgpt voice.
As we report, the The decision has not lowered very well with the Chatgpt users base. It seems that many users prefer the standard voice mode.
Publish in the Operai developer forum, a user, TZF75BPK5J, wrote: “I have been very frustrated with the advanced voice chat to the point that I would prefer to have the free version. The standard is much higher when giving more human responses that are more relevant both in content and expression. The advanced mode gives generic responses, and the vocal tone is flat and robotic.”
I am devastated
While the advanced voice mode allows interruptions and is generally considered more expressive, I can see why many people prefer the original standard voice mode that Chatgpt offered. It is simple, direct and talkative.
Talking about retirement of standard voice mode in Reddit Subnetdit R/Chatgpt, user Miboluo said: “I am devastated. I have used the standard” cove “for more than a year; it has been one of the most comforting parts of my experience in Chatgpt: calmation, neutral, consistent, except what I want from an assistant of AI.”
“Yes, AVM is faster and allows live interruption, that is impressive. But the experience has been horrible to me: conversations feel flat and boring (perhaps due to the limits of the model/NERFS), and delivery is often actuated supercharged, sometimes as a melodramatic stage actor. The harder tries to sound human, the more I do not realize; that is not immersion.”
An X.com publication by Nick Turley, vice president and chief of @chatpptapp, announced that Openai had decided not to eliminate the standard voice mode:

A warning on the Operai website says:

“We have heard comments that the standard voice is special for many, and we want to obtain this correct transition. Voice standard will remain available while we address some of your comments in Voice Advanced. They are attentive, more improvements for advanced voice mode will arrive soon!”
Access to standard voice mode
To access the standard voice mode in chatgpt, click or touch your username, select Settings, Then personalize the chatgpt. Move down to AdvancedAlternate ‘Advanced Voice’ to get out and select Save.
Now, when it activates the voice mode playing or clicking on the icon at the right end of the fast window, the standard voice mode will enter, which is represented by a black circle while Chatgpt speaks, instead of a blue orb with clouds.
It remains to be seen if a simpler option will be introduced to access it now that it has been given an execution suspension.
