Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif realized Wednesday of the situation of flooding in Karachi and parts of Sindh, ordering the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to extend full support in help efforts.
In a statement by the Prime Minister’s office, the Prime Minister requested a coordinated action between the NDMA and the Sindh Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) to guarantee effective rescue and rehabilitation operations.
“Federal and Sindh governments are completely mobilized to deal with the situation of flooding,” he said, emphasizing that helping affected families should be the main priority. He also expressed sadness for deaths caused by floods in the current of Gadap, where multiple citizens were swept into the torrential current.

He instructed all relevant authorities to accelerate the search for missing persons and guarantee timely assistance for flood victims. “The awareness campaign should be activated even more to inform the public about the situation of the flood to protect citizens,” he added.
The prime minister praised the ongoing rescue operations carried out by the 1122 rescue, the Pakistan army and the Rangers in Karachi, where several areas remain submerged due to the recent downpour.
He also requested rapid action to restore damaged roads and communication networks in the affected regions, warning that delays could hinder both the delivery of relief and mobility for emergency services.

Karachi has been beaten by another spell of intense monsoon rains, with flood waters that enter residential areas, a harmful infrastructure and embrace the city’s drainage system. Emergency equipment is on alert, while several key routes have closed or diverted due to the increase in water levels.
In Konkar Nadi from the city of Gadap, a Rickshaw and two vehicles with seven people on board were dragged by flood water. Until now, rescue teams have recovered four bodies, including a woman and her son, while the search continues by the missing.
The Thado dam overflowed, sending torrent to the M – 9 highway, now cleared. The Supercorya near Habib restaurant was submerged, forcing a total interruption of traffic between Karachi and Hyderabad.

The National Roads and Highway Police confirmed that flood water crossed the highway limit, while the barriers were removed to allow controlled flow.
The low suburbs near Super Highway saw water depths of up to five feet. Rescue teams, rapidly deployed, are working to evacuate residents. “The central barrier of the highway has been eliminated to divert flooding and reopening traffic,” said a spokesman for CM House.
The flood waves have devastated the city of Saadi, Malir, Sohrab Goth, Machchar Colony, Khamisu Jhokhio Goth and New Karachi. There are reports that many vehicles were dragged by flood water. Rescue teams 1122, the Edhi Foundation and the Rangers are found in the affected areas to extend the hand to stranded people.
