Islamabad:
The committee of the Prime Minister on Damage to Floods in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) has decided to adopt a coordinated and transparent approach to evaluate the rehabilitation losses and costs, after a high -level meeting chaired by the Federal Minister for Climate Change and Environmental Coordination, Dr. Musadik Malik, Wednesday.
The Committee supported a “triangulated” methodology that involves the AJK government, the State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) and the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), backed by technical experts, to produce precise and contextualized estimates locally of flood damage.
“The objective is to guarantee reliable data that can guide transparent decision making and efficient use of rehabilitation resources,” said Dr. Malik during the meeting.
The meeting emphasized that this combined effort will help optimize the reports and allow a well -informed set of recommendations to the prime minister to be presented. The committee will meet again in the next few days to finish its report for the necessary action and the allocation of resources.
Recent floods in AJK have severely damaged houses, roads and infrastructure, with the authorities under pressure to accelerate recovery efforts.
