Center ‘Accept KP conversations with Kabul’

Peshawar:

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s prime minister (KP), Ali Amin Gandapur, said Wednesday that the Federal Government expressed its willingness to initiate conversations with Afghanistan through the provincial government.

Speaking to journalists after an event in relation to the frame of new rules and regulations in the Provincial Assembly, the main minister Gandapur said the center had agreed in principle KP establishing contact with Kabul.

“In these conversations, some representatives will be them and some ours. [Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder Imran] Khan has said that negotiations with Afghanistan should advance, “Gandapur told reporters.

However, he emphasized that the provinces do not have the authority to carry out the dialogue with foreign countries. “This authority falls to the Federal Government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,” he said. He said the center had transmitted a message to start contact with Afghanistan.

The prime minister also complained that his passport has remained blocked since May 9, 2023. “This is the situation of the country: the passport of a main minister has been blocked. I have requested, but they are not broadcasting me,” he said.

In addition, he claimed that he has not been allowed to meet the founder of PTI, but insisted that he would still follow the instructions if ordered. “If my president [Imran] He goes, I will go to Afghanistan even without a passport, “he said.

Orders

The district court and sessions in Islamabad on Wednesday issued an arrest warrant for the main minister of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Ali Amin Gandapur, in the case of recovery of long-standing spirits and weapons, after it did not appear in court.

During a hearing, Judge Magistrate Mubashir Hassan Chishti dismissed Gandapur’s request for exemption from personal appearance and ordered him to be arrested and presented in the Court on September 17, in the case recorded against him at the Bara Kahu Police station.

Gandapur’s lawyer, Raja Zahoorul Hassan, asked the court to suspend the arrest orders. The court rejected the plea, declaring: “You produce the accused and will cancel the arrest orders.” He said that a Junior lawyer could have requested a new audience date, which would have been scheduled.

In previous hearings, the court said that he had given K Gandapur a wide opportunity and warned that a verdict could be issued in his absence if he did not appear. “No more relief will be granted if the statement is not registered before July 21,” said the magistrate in a written order.

The case dates back to October 2016, when Islamabad police allegedly recovered five Kalashnikov assault rifles, a gun, six magazines, a bulletproof vest, alcohol and three tear gas shells from a vehicle belonging to Pakistan Tehreek-E-Iinsaf (PTI) near Bani Galaa.

Gandapur has constantly denied the accusations, stating that he was traveling with two rifles of licensed Kalashnikov and that a valid weapons license was present in the vehicle. He also said that the bottle supposedly contained alcohol contained honey.
