Yungblud’s bassist Silke Blansjaar did not even touch the bass and is now touring with one of the most brilliant young rock stars in the United Kingdom.
“I always thought I was going to be a drummer,” said Blansjaar, adding: “I touched some guitar, but then my little brother needed a bassist. I thought: ‘Let’s try!'”
Admitting that he was not really aware of whom Yungblud, whose real name is Dominick Harrison, was not really aware of the fact that he had recently triggered Ultimate Stardom with his fascinating performance in the Black Sabbath Farewell Show, at first.
“I knew the name, but I thought it could be a rapper,” he said.
“I played a show with [previous band] Public body in Shacklewell Arms in London. The manager of our guitarist was in the show, and I talked to him for about two minutes that night, “Silke recalled and then continued:” Months later, he was in an office with Yungblud’s management, who asked him: ‘Do you know a good bassist for this band?’ “
“My Instagram gave them and I received a message from Yungblud’s manager, but he didn’t say who the artist was. He was in the pub after work; I saw the message and I thought: ‘Who the hell is this guy?’ He called me the next day and offered me a world tour.
“I thought, ‘There is no way that this is how an artist of that size finds a new member of the band. This will not go anywhere!’ I met the boys for a beer and said: ‘Are you a big fan of Yungblud?’ I was like, ‘I really don’t know it.’
