Panjnad hit an extremely high flood

The Provincial Disaster Authority (PDMA) of Punjab on Friday an extremely high flood in Panjnad, where the water flow reached 679,000 cusecs, while the river flow flows above the head gradually returned to normal.

The Federal Flood Commission (FFC) confirmed that an exceptionally high flood in Panjnad, a medium flood in Buddu and Sukkur Barrages in the Indo. He said Guddu could face a very high flood in 48 hours.

The Sutlej in Sulemanki and Islam Headworks is experiencing medium floods, said the FFC, added that there is a high flood in Sidhnai in the Ravi. The PDMA said that Ravi’s flow is recorded in 69,000 CUSECs with a high flood.

The Sutlej in Ganda Singh Wala registered 78,000 Cusecs and Sulemanki 102,000 Cusecs, both classified as medium floods. Chenab in Marala and Qadirabad, as well as in Khanki and Trimmu, was reported at normal levels.

In Shahdara in the Ravi, the flows were located at 31,000 Cusecs within the safe limits, while Bloki Headworks recorded 57,000 Cusec with a low flood. The authorities said the departments remained alert under the directives of the Punjab main minister, with resources mobilized to protect lives and properties.

The PDMA said that the river flows through Punjab gradually returned to normal, since the rains in the upper basins had stopped.

Meanwhile, the Water Resources Ministry declared that the Tarbela dam has had a capacity of 100% since August 27, while Mangla Dam is 93% full with six storage available. The Ministry has instructed the provinces to prepare damage evaluations caused by floods.
