- Microsoft Teams URL-Scang
- Generally available in November, you will be enabled by default
- The senders and receivers will receive warning messages
Microsoft is now implementing URL monitoring among equipment to help stabilize malicious links on the platform, automatically alerting users when private or group messages contain doubtful links.
The company says that this covers things like spam, phishing or malware, and should formally be with us for November.
The feature was revealed for the first time in a road map entrance in August 2025, under the title ‘Malicious URL protection for the chat and team channels ”.
The teams will scan for a doubtful intention
The road map entrance says: “Microsoft equipment can now detect and warn the malicious URL users sent in chat and channel equipment, increasing protection against malware attacks.”
Traced with ID 499893, it has now been launched as a public prior view on Android, Desktop, iOS and web instances of equipment, with general availability scheduled for November.
The senders will see a warning if they share a harmful URL, with generic details or warnings and the option to edit or eliminate messages. End users will see clear warnings before interacting.
The function works by scanning all URLs against Microsoft threat intelligence databases and works in internal and external messages.
Users can opt through the administration center in messaging configuration during the stage of public prior view. The function will be enabled by default once it is generally available. Administrators can still disable it from the administration center or using Powershell.
The full details of logistics are available through a dedicated support page.
