- A leak suggests that the Samsung Galaxy S26 Pro could have a new “useless” wide camera
- Most other specifications may not be improved
- This could mean that the Galaxy S26 pro fights to compete with the iPhone 17
With each new Samsung Galaxy S model, there is an expectation that the specifications are improved, and although that is the case of the Samsung Galaxy S26 Pro, the last leak suggests that its updates could be minimal.
According to Refutable Leaker @universeice, the Samsung Galaxy S26 Pro will have a 1080P screen such as the Samsung Galaxy S25, and “the teleobjective remains the smallest 10MP sensor in the industry that has been used for years.”
As for the updates, @univereice affirms that the phone will have a new 50MP ultra-colt sensor (compared to 12MP at the Galaxy S25), but describe it as “useless.” So, apart from megapixels, it may not be an improvement.
As far as I know, the greatest update of the Galaxy S26 Pro is simply adding the word “pro” to your name. The ultra wide camera has been replaced by a 50MP useless sensor, the main camera uses a new model, but the size remains unchanged, and the teleobjective remains the … pic.twitter.com/qpin2sbwkqSeptember 11, 2025
They also claim that the main camera will change, but the size (presumably of the sensor) will not be.
Of course, even if this leak is correct, there could be updates elsewhere, but they add that “apart from that, there is really nothing new”, so presumably of a new chipset, there may be not much to do here.
Not very professional
If so, that makes the name change rumoree of the Samsung Galaxy S26 to the Samsung Galaxy S26 Pro is even more questionable and confusing, since this phone seems to have difficulties to match the iPhone 17, much less the iPhone 17 Pro.
As a reminder, the iPhone 17 has a 1206 x 2622 screen, which is a resolution higher than that of 1080 x 2340 of the Galaxy S25, and by the sounds of this leak, it is likely that it is also a resolution higher than that of Samsung Galaxy S26 Pro.
The iPhone 17 also has a main 48MP camera and a 48mp. It lacks the teleobjective camera that is located in the Galaxy S25, but due to the sounds of this leak, the teleobjective pargo of the Galaxy S26 Pro will not be doing much anyway.
In addition, with its A19 chipset, the iPhone 17 is more powerful than we expect that it is the Samsung Galaxy S26 Pro, and with updates at its update rhythm, two of its cameras and its battery life, also seems a significant improvement in its predecessor, that the Samsung Galaxy S26 Pro could not be.
There is still hope for Samsung’s telephone, especially because @univesex tends to have a fairly negative vision of Samsung devices, either deserved or not. But if you really have ‘pro’ in the name, then people will wait a lot, and so far it does not seem that this phone delivers enough.
