External GPUs are often marketed as a way to extend the capacities of thin laptops, and the Onexgpu Lite follows that trend.
This new device, which weighs 500 GY can put in a bag, is built around the AMD Radeon RX 7600m XT, a mobile RDNA3 chip with 2,048 flow processors, 8 GB of GDDR6 memory and 32 MB of infinity cache.
It is classified for a power raffle of 120 W and can provide up to 65 W to connected devices, although it is still based on a separate 240 wing brick.
Hardware and connection standards
The graphics dock supports HDMI 2.1 and Displayport 2.0, with an announced output of up to 4K to 120Hz.
For connectivity, the product description repeatedly mentions “USB 5.0” and “USB-C 5.0”, although such standards do not exist.
It is more likely that the device admits USB4 V2 or Thunderbolt 5, which deliver 80 Gbps in each direction but Cap Pcie Width at 64 Gbps.
The company itself uses the Thunderbolt 5 label, although adequate certification details have not been shared.
Given this uncertainty, the practical value of this device depends on how well it translates into the use of the real world.
A laptop that once fought with layer editing projects could, in theory, become useful as photo editing PC.
Similarly, high -resolution representation deadlines in software packages can be executed rather, which makes the same system viable that a video editing PC.
Capture, as always, is that bandwidth limits and thermal limitations reduce efficiency compared to a desktop solution.
The OnexGPU Lite is priced at 3,899 RMB, around $ 535, with the expected shipping as of September 25.
This cost is comparable to the average independent range cards, although those cards would generally be installed in complete desks with access to the best GPU performance in the segment.
Here, the buyer is paying for portability and compatibility instead of gross speed, but the package also includes a patented USB cable, which appears at a value of $ 27.
