KP seeks Afghan help for peace negotiations

The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government has formally requested the Afghan ambassador who facilitates conversations with the prohibited TTP, a source within the provincial government informed Express PAkGazette Peshawar’s office.

After the repeated directives of the imprisoned leader of PTI, Imran Khan, Prime Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, accompanied by the lawyer of the great Jirga Muhammad Ali Saif, visited the high Afghan commission in Islamabad on Friday night.

At first, the prime minister offered condolences to the Afghan ambassador Ahmad Shukab and secured greater assistance for the afflicted families in Kunar after the recent deaths from earthquakes.

The two parties also discussed the repatriation of Afghan refugees, guarantees against forced deportations and the security situation in the province.

Ambassador Shukab praised the timely response of the KP government and recognized his cooperation on the issue of Afghan refugees.

Gandapur informed the envoy about the situation of the law and order in KP and proposed to form a jirga to hold conversations with the prohibited TTP in Kabul or in other places in Afghanistan, confirmed the source.

The Afghan ambassador assured that he would transmit the request of the main minister to the Afghan Central Command, adding that the modalities of the meeting would end, the source added.
