Islamabad:
The Rights Activist and Lawyer Imaan Mazari has submitted a written application to the Registrar of the Superior Court of Islamabad (IHC), asking him to provide CCTV images of the Court No. 1 since September 11.
She has declared that that day, between 9 am at 11 am, there was an unfortunate incident in the courtroom that involved her verbal exchange with the president of the IHC court, Sardar Muhammad Sarfraz Dogar.
Mazari has asked the registrar to preserve the images of that altercation and also provide a copy of it. He has also submitted a USB along with the application.
On Thursday, Judge Dragar and Imaan participated in a verbal altercation during which the judge warned the lawyer who could face contempt procedures.
“You should keep your mouth closed and stay within the limits,” said President of Justice President Mazari, who had allegedly called Justice to tell “a dictator” in some other forum.
Imaan insisted that their personal opinions were protected by freedom of expression and should not affect their client’s case. “I’m here with a [legal] Brief, not in a personal capacity. “
During the heated exchange, the president of the Supreme Court warned IMAAN of possible contempt procedures. Adding fuel to the fire, he turned to the husband and the companion of Imaan, the lawyer Hadi Ali Chatta, and said: “Hadi Sahib, explain it … if you catch it one day …”
Later, Imaan took X to reiterate that he was present at the IHC on behalf of his client, not as “Imaan Mazari activist.” She emphasized that she was driving “according to the professional label (and a court should do the same)”.
On Friday, several law agencies issued statements of condemnation with a couple of them demanding the elimination of telling their position.
During the hearing of a case on Friday, Judge Dogar clarified his comments, stating that Imaan Mazari was “like a daughter for him.” “Yesterday I advised her as old woman and as president of the Supreme Court, but my words were taken from context and was disproportionate,” he said.
The judge declared that he only warned him not to make personal comments about the judges, and denied having threatened to “catch her.”
