Elahi blames PML-N for Gujrat floods

Gujrat:

The central president of Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI) and former Punjab Prime Minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi said on Saturday that Gujrat would not have submerged in the floods if the PML-N government did not block funds for the drainage system.

He was going to the victims of the flood in Gujrat together with the secretary of PTI Salman Akram Raja.

Elahi said his government had secured billions of rupees in funds for the Gujrat drainage system, adding that if the current government did not use those funds in city projects, it could not be trusted.

“If the PML-N had not stopped the funds for the wastewater projects that we had begun, Gujrat would not have been submerged today. The real culprits are these people who now come here and speak greatly.”

Elahi said that if protective embankments had not been built around Gujrat, the city would have faced an even worse situation. He added that Moonis Elahi had completed a rainwater pipeline from 50 academ from the Chowk prison to Bleck Pul with RS4 billion in funds, “he said.

Criticizing the “Lopsid” policies of the PML-N, said the current government had built concrete paths on the two main drains of Gujrat, Shah Hussain and Chah Tarang, blocking the flow of rainwater.

Elahi said he had implemented Imran Khan’s vision during his term as Punjab main minister. He claimed that his rivals had already diverted half of Gujrat’s funds and only focused on filling their own pockets, while the focus of their party had always been to serve humanity.

Speaking on the occasion, Raja said that the people of Punjab, and in fact all Pakistan, thanked Elahi’s services.
