- SHARP DYNOBOOK RA73/VY weighs 849 g, however, chips options range from Ryzen 5 Pro to Ryzen 7
- The construction of magnesium alloy and thin bezels shrink their general footprint skillfully
- Memory options include 16 GB or 32 GB with storage up to 1 PCIE SSD TB
The Sharp Dynabook Division has introduced what calls the new lighter AMD notebook in the world, the Dynabook Ra73/Vy.
This 13.3 -inch model weighs around 849 g, undermining the 875g Dynabook GA83/XW released in 2023.
It has a Wuxga LCD panel, and there is also an optional version enabled for touch that increases weight to approximately 927 g. Even with this increase, it remains among the lighter laptops in the industry, since most notebooks weigh more than 1 kg.
Decent specifications with an astronomical price
The construction of Dynabook Ra73/Vy light is largely the result of careful engineering options, with the magnesium alloy body and the thin bezel reducing the general footprint to approximately 298.8 x 212 x 17.7–18.7 mm for the non -tactile version.
This device works with AMD processors, with buyers capable of choosing between Ryzen 5 Pro 220, Ryzen 5 Pro 230, Ryzen 5 220, Ryzen 5 230 or Ryzen 7 250 CPU.
The memory options are 16 GB or 32 GB, while the storage options vary from 256 GB to 1 TB PCIE SSD.
For connectivity, RA73/Vy includes two Thunderbolt 4 ports, two USB 3.2 Gen 1, HDMI, Gigabit Ethernet, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, a microSD card slot and a standard audio connector.
The device can be configured to use digital or facial fingerprint recognition sensors and can even include a 5G or 4G modem.
According to Dynabook, the device presents compliance with the “insured nucleus PC” for greater protection and admits noise cancellation based on AI and an effector of the AI Chamber, both designed for the Web Conference.
These characteristics can attract professionals, although their value on standard tools is uncertain.
This is one of the most portable laptops in the market, but its price of 461,300 yen (approximately $ 3,130) is difficult to justify for a laptop whose outstanding feature is weight reduction.
Although RA73/Vy adds small improvements on its predecessor, its impact outside of Japan is not clear.
Sharp has not announced global availability, but I hope it is available worldwide.
It is likely that complete reviews and practical tests will be needed to determine if its light construction and specifications justify the cost.
Together with the RA73/Vy, Dynabook has also begun to accept orders for the XA74/VY of 14 inches, which includes a “self-replable battery” and the laptop BA86/VY of 16 inches.
