PPP suspends all political activities in Sindh

The Pakistan Popular Party chapter (PPP) has announced the suspension of all political activities in the province until it is coming. The decision has been made in view of the worsening of the situation of floods in Sindh.

The announcement was made by the president of PPP Sindh, Nisar Khuhro, who declared that political commitments would remain waiting until water levels in the rivers are normalized. He stressed that the immediate priority of the party is to support the communities affected by floods, particularly in the areas of Katcha (riverside).

“PPP leaders must appear to support the victims of floods in all possible ways,” said Khuhro, urging the leaders and workers of the party to establish relief camps and ensure that the aid reaches displaced and vulnerable families.

He reiterated the long -standing commitment of PPP to stand next to people in times of difficulties, adding that the party would continue to play an active role in the relief and rehabilitation efforts.

Khuhro also assured that the Sindh government is on a maximum alert, closely monitoring the situation. He expressed the hope that incoming flood waters will pass without causing damage.

Early in the day, Sindh’s prime minister Murad Ali Shah asked the Federal Government to immediately seek the United Nations International Assistance to support flood relief operations.

When inspecting the barriers of Guddu and Sukkur to evaluate water levels on the Indo River, Shah reaffirmed the commitment of the provincial government to protect lives and properties.

He expressed optimism that the waters of the floods would go through the bombing of Sukkur without causing important destruction, adding that ministers and officials actively display from Kashmore to Keti Bandar.

The prime minister also echoed the previous call of the president of the PPP, Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, for the immediate disbursement of the aid funds through the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP), a process he pointed out remains pending.

“The federal government must act quickly in the appeal of international aid and accelerate the release of funds for help efforts,” said the CM.
