The mayor of Karachi, Murtaza Wahab, highlighted on Monday the tensions between the Popular Party of Pakistan and Jamaat-E-Isami during a press conference.
With the city staggering from a second wave of Monzonian rain, Wahab accused JI of using a disaster caused by the rain to help the PPP name, claiming that the opposition party had spread false propaganda.
“I have come today to inform Karachi’s people about the facts. Our political opponents have launched negative propaganda with respect to the Hub channel and Shahrah-E-Bhutto.”
The mayor of Karachi had begun the press conference, urging those who maintain political differences outside the equation when a disaster occurs and, nevertheless, his finger never stopped pointing.
In the last rain spell, many transport arteries in the city had been damaged. Wahab states that this damage was exaggerated: “Halem Adil Sheikh arrived and said that the Hubal channel had been dragged. Actually, only a portion of 20 meters from the Hub channel was damaged. That 20 -meter section was immediately repaired in 48 hours.”

The torrential rains paralyzed Karachi last week, flooding neighborhoods, sweeping vehicles and killing at least four people, while more than 400 were rescued when the army joined the civil authorities in help operations in flooded areas.
Travelers endured Thursday at hours of hours, when the closure of the key routes paralyzed the vehicular movement in the main arteries that unite Korangi, the defense and the central karachi.
According to the mayor of the city, Shahrah-E-Bhutto was useful, and all speculation about its closure during the second rain spell was simple propaganda.
What is confirmed is that a sudden flood in the Malir River caused significant damage to the Shahrah-E-Bhutto sub-construction in Malir Jam Goth. The floods swept along the way, creating a space of several feet wide and deep.

The closure of Korangi Crossing, Malir River Causeway and EBM Causeway due to floods interrupted the traffic flow early in the morning until late on the night of September 10.
A massive traffic congestion was reported in Korangi Road, Qayyumabad Chowrangi, Jam Sadiq Bridge, Baloch Colony Expressway, Brooks Chowrangi and Defense Signal, where vehicles remained caught in long lines for hours.
Wahab’s explanation for traffic chaos paralyzing Karachi was simple, “whenever such a situation arises, naturally, damage occurs.”
He recalled his own set of accusations, claiming that Jamaat-i-Islami received RS27 billion, “all tax revenues go to the city presidents, but they still do not carry out the work.”
Renouncing greater silence on the subject, Wahab accused after JI, stating that JI presented a judicial case claiming that the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) commercialized the Karachi parks. He folded, with statements that the member of Ji Saifuddin lied under oath when he appeared in court.
“It was Naimatullah Khan who marketed the roads of Karachi.”
Wahab pointed out more fingers, namely Hafiz Naeem Ur Rehman, suggesting that the Colony Town model received RS2.5 billion and “however, a single road has not been built.”
