Happy Tvos 26 days to all who celebrate it! Today is the day that its Apple TV HD or Apple TV 4K obtains a new operating system, and because the iPhone, the iPad and Mac are also being updated, will have all its Apple kit and you will feel part of the same Apple ecosystem.
I have been using the TVOS 26 developer and public betas for a while, and these five characteristics are my current favorites. However, keep in mind that not all features work on all older devices.
Look through liquid glass
Liquid Glass is Apple’s new design language, and arrives at Apple TV in a slightly less dramatic way than on iPhone or iPad: where the interfaces of these devices are now dramatically different, the design of Apple TV of modern appearance has already given more refreshment.
The main difference that will notice is the control center (which is now seen as clear as that of an iPhone) and in Facetime (which looks more like the iOS application).
The new interface tries to get out of your way as much as possible, which allows you to concentrate on the program or the film instead of transport controls and additional options. Which is exactly what you want from a TV interface.
AirPlay for anything
Apple TV and AirPlay were made for each other, and TVOs 26 is presenting a very welcome improvement: in configuration> video and audio can now make AirPlay its predetermined audio output for any AirPlay Speaker, without having to name him again the next time he wakes up his Sleep Apple TV.
A small safe change, but welcome to anyone who has wanted to use a pair of sonos speakers as stereo television speakers.
Karaoke mode
The Sing Music mode now works with your iPhone, which allows you to joke with your favorite clues Who let the dogs out? When she tries to sleep).
The match is just a matter of scanning the QR code on the screen with the camera of its iPhone, and can open the function from Apple Music or using the Sing dedicated icon that appeared on its home screen.
Apple Music has a dedicated selection of songs and playlists, so it is just a matter of finding the ones you want to howk. You can also enable a display on screen to move with music.
The Sing function is only for the 2022 Apple TV 4K, unfortunately, and you must use TV speakers, a sound bar or other wiring sound system: it does not currently work if you are emitting wireless speakers.
Change the screen scene
When I first saw the first Apple TV, one of the things that impressed me the most was screenshots: Apple has constantly offered very beautiful real life scenes that include an impressive aerial photograph, and the collection has grown with each update of the operating system.
The 26 tvos update is no exception, and in addition to the new screenshots, this time from Indian locations, including Goa and Kerala, there is a new way of organizing them.
In TVOS 26, you can customize air screen savers more than everyone before. Not only can you hide the collection (s) that you do not want to see, for example, if you really love the screenshots of the Earth, but you are not so interested in the submarine collection, you can now do the same on a base by ScreeSaver.
Personate your Apple TV with profiles
If you have a shared TV, you probably already know the user profiles. Tvvos makes them much easier to access, which allows you to have a profile selection screen when Apple TV wakes up (or to avoid it and go directly to a specific profile every time).
The profiles will also become even more useful in TVOs 26 because Apple is now allowing developers to unite their applications to specific Apple accounts, so the profile in which it is registered on Apple TV will also be the profile used for its various applications.
That should make your Apple TV configuration or configure a new profile for the first time, much faster.
