Islamabad, Rawalpindi to obtain a high -speed rail link


The federal government has approved a modern high -speed rail project that will connect Islamabad and Rawalpindi. The project, after the completion, will reduce travel time between twin cities to only 20 minutes.

The initiative, in addition to reducing travel time, will also reduce fuel consumption, will relieve traffic congestion and provide people with a quick and affordable transport option.

The decision was taken during a high -level meeting on Monday chaired by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, and Hanif Abbasi Railway Minister.

The Minister of State of the Interior Talal Chaudhry, together with senior officials, including the Federal Secretary of the Interior, the Secretary of Railways, the President of the Capital Development Authority (CDA), the Rawalpindi Commissioner, the inspector of the Islamabad Police and the representatives of Frontier Corps also attended the meeting.

The framework agreement for the project will be ended and signed next week. According to the Plan, the Railroad Ministry will provide the road infrastructure, while the CDA will manage the service.
The government also decided to import state -of -the -art trains to guarantee modern, comfortable and efficient operations.

Speaking after the meeting, the Railroad Minister Hanif Abbasi described the new rail service as a milestone for public welfare, emphasizing that residents could travel between the two cities quickly and conveniently.

The Minister of State, Talal Chaudhry, described the new service as a low -speed and high speed option that will significantly reduce traffic pressure on roads that connect Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

Officials believe that the high -speed railroad will not only transform trips, but also promote economic activity and environmental sustainability. By offering a faster and more efficient travel mode, the project is ready to mark a new chapter in urban transport for twin cities.
