Add the Houston Texans to the list of teams that used their game at home during the calendar of week 2 of the NFL to stop for a moment of silence prior to the game, although the team’s effort before Monday night against the Buccaneers of Tampa Bay did not mention Charlie Kirk.

At approximately 6:40 pm et o approximately 20 minutes before the start, the Texans transmit this message about their public direction of the stadium at the NRG stadium:

“Ladies and gentlemen, we are asking all families to join us at a time of silence to honor all victims of natural violence and disasters throughout the country.

“We hope that together we condemn all forms of violence. Thank you.”

The pause in the program prior to the game lasted 10 seconds. It was transmitted in ESPN.

Outkick previously asked the Texans if they planned to have some kind of silence prior to the game for Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA who was killed last week.

Texans did not want to minimize anyone

Other NFL teams that organize games at home chosen to have such moments of silence or reflection. Five had decided not to have moments of silence to mention Kirk.

These local teams made their own decisions about what to do in relation to Kirk. Meanwhile, the NFL decided to make a moment of silent reflection ordered by the League before the Green Bay Packers game in Lambeau Field.

The Texans sent an explanation to Outkick about why Kirk’s name was not mentioned.

“We have a moment of silence prior to the game to honor all victims of violence and natural disasters throughout the country,” the club said in a statement. “Unfortunately, there have been a series of recent tragedies, so we do not believe it was appropriate to highlight any of them and minimize the others that have occurred.”

Obviously, the Texans would argue that they approached Kirk’s murder, although, you know, they did not approach Kirk’s murder by name.

Dallas Cowboys did well

It should be noted that the Dallas Cowboys, the other NFL club in Texas, absolutely celebrated a tribute prior to the game for Kirk. And club owner Jerry Jones explained his thinking about the matter later.

There is a set of the remaining NFL on the calendar and that is the Las Vegas Raiders who welcome the Los Angeles Chargers at 10 pm

Outkick has communicated with the Raiders to ask about their plans for a moment of silence prior to the game: to do it, not do it.

It is true that we do not ask the Raiders if they were doing it without, you know, mentioning Kirk completely, a hybrid approach for a tribute that the Texans devised on Monday night.
