Both iOS 26 and iPados 26 are already available to download, but what iPhone and iPad models are compatible with the latest Apple updates?
Apple confirmed the requirements of the device for iOS 26 and Ipados 26 in its WWDC 2025 showcase in June, and now that both updates are in nature, we have listed all the compatible models in this dedicated compatibility guide.
If your device admits iOS 26 or iPados 26, it will also be compatible with all subsequent versions of the software (for example, iOS 18.1, Ipados 18.1, etc.).
We also have details about what characteristics of iOS or Ipados are not available on all devices, since Apple continues to restrict certain tools to the newest Apple chips sets.
iOS 26 Compatibility
Apple has confirmed that all iPhone models, including and newer than iPhone 11, in other words, any iPhone with the Bionic chipset A13 or better, are compatible with iOS 26.
Keep in mind that this is a slightly different eligibility criterion from iOS 18, which included the iPhone XS and the iPhone XR. So, if you are currently using any of those models, you must update a newer iPhone to qualify for iOS 26.

Ipados 26 Compatibility
Almost all iPad models are available in multiple sizes, as well as Wi-Fi Solo and Wi-Fi +cell configurations, so in the interest of readability, we have grouped the following list of models compatible with Ipados 26 in outdated categories:
- 2018 iPad Pro models and later (third generation onwards)
- Ipad air models of 2019 and posterior (third generation onwards)
- IPAD models of 2020 and later (eighth generation onwards)
- 2019 iPad Mini models and later (fifth generation onwards)
As with iOS 26, not all iPad that runs ipados 18 are compatible with ipados 26. Specifically, Apple has eliminated support for iPad 10.2 inches (2019).
However, if you have a newer iPad that is already executing Ipados 18, you can download iPados 26.
Compatibility of characteristics
Not all iPhone and iPad compatible with iOS 26 and Ipados 26 can benefit from all iOS 26 and iPados 26 functions.
The characteristics of Apple Intelligence, for example, are exclusive to the devices that execute the Apple mm chips sets, A19, A19 Pro, A18, A18 Pro and A17 PRO, while messages through the satellite tool are limited to the iPhone 14 and newer series.
However, these characteristics were already introduced with iOS 18 and Ipados 18, so it is better to think of them as exclusive of these software packages, instead of iOS 26 and iPados 26.
