Flood levels fall in Sindh, Punjab as the help continues


The waters of the floods are constantly retreating in the Sindh bombing network, while Punjab reports the rivers flows to a large extent, according to the provincial monitoring authorities on Tuesday. Aid operations remain in full swing in the provinces.

In Guddu and Sukkur, the entries of 611,051 and 571,800 CUSECs, respectively, still exceed the exits by 27,900 and 53,680 Cusecs, but both points have registered notable decreases from the previous days.

Similar reductions are reported in Kotri and Panjnad.

The Provincial Authority of Disaster Management (PDMA) of Punjab confirmed normal flows in the Indo, Chenab and Ravi rivers, with medium floods confined to the Sutlej basin and the confluence of Panjnad.

In Ganda Singhwala, the Sutlej records an average flood of 101,000 Cusecs, while the main Islam is 81,000 Cusecs and Sulemanki shows a low flood to 90,000 Cusecs.

The Indo continues to flow to manageable levels, with 196,000 Cusecs in Tarbela, 169,000 in Kalabagh, 178,000 in Chashma and 161,000 in Taunsa.

Chenab’s flows are still moderate, from 56,000 Cusecs in Marala to 80,000 in the trimmu head, except for a medium increase in flooding of 234,000 Cusecs in Panjnad.

The principal minister of Sindh, Sharjeel Inam Memon, said the provincial government is totally dedicated to rescue and help efforts, ensuring food, drinking water, medical care and livestock support for those affected.

He informed that 3,522 people were evacuated in the last 24 hours, which led to total relocations to 173,027, with 469 still in help fields.

He added that 3,192 cattle moved on Monday, carrying total cattle relocations to 450,571. Veterinary teams vaccinated 39,589 animals on the last day, with a general total of 1,305,573.

In every Sindh, 183 medical camps are operating, treating 4,174 people in the last 24 hours and 92,958 to date.

The authorities in both provinces remain on a maximum alert, since the forecasts warn about possible new rains that could raise river levels.
