- Some owners of Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro are experiencing battery problems
- Those affected are seeing that the batteries begin to overheat and swell
- Google has been offering repairs and replacements of some people
We have already seen problems with batteries overheating and swelling in the Google Pixel 6A, which Google tried through a software update earlier this year, and now it seems that it is the turn of Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro to develop the same problems.
As reported by Piunikaweb and Android Authority, there are now multiple complaints online about batteries inside the Google Pixel 7 and Google Pixel 7 Pro swelling, which affects the housing of the devices and points towards possible overheating.
“I noticed that the side panel of the device has begun to separate,” writes a user in the official Pixel phone help forum. “It seems that the battery may be swollen, which represents a significant safety risk, including the explosion or fire potential.”
Until now, Google’s response to individual users does not seem to have been particularly consistent. However, some of those affected have been offered replacements or repairs, depending on the state of the guarantee (the phones were announced in October 2022).
Is happening again
You can remember that Google recently offered free repairs or partial refunds for Google Pixel 7a phones that have similar problems: devices that, of course, launched several months after Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro.
We have communicated directly with Google to see if there is any official response to the new statements of battery problems, but they still do not receive an answer. If we obtain a statement from the Google team, we will include it here.
While it is not clear how many phones these problems have, a history of battery overheating problems is not a great aspect for Google, and it is likely that you put some doubts in the mind of anyone who thinks about updating the new Google Pixel 10.
If you see signs of battery swelling on any phone, your best and most safe option is to support everything and repair or replace it as soon as you can, without further load: contact the manufacturer or retailer than you obtained to get more guidance.
