Islamabad:
The Pakistan Ehreek-E-Insaf (PTI) has formally resigned from all the permanent committees of the Senate, intensifying its political disconnection of the parliamentary process in protest against what it describes as an “engineering system.”
PTI’s parliamentary leader in the Senate, lawyer Ali Zafar, presented on Tuesday the resignations of the party senators to the Senate Secretariat.
Speaking outside the House of Parliament, Zafar declared that the measure was part of a unanimous decision of the party. “We have decided to retire from all the Senate committees. Today, I have presented the resignations of our senators according to our collective decision,” he said.
