EVALUATION OF FLOOD PM Orders, rain losses

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif ordered the relevant authorities on Tuesday to prepare a comprehensive evaluation of human and financial losses, including damage to crops, livestock and communication infrastructure in areas affected by rain and floods.

He stressed that once the evaluation is completed, the government could formulate a comprehensive rehabilitation strategy, effectively restore the affected areas and support the impacted population.

The Prime Minister issued the directives while presiding over a review meeting on the loss of lives and properties caused by recent rains and floods, including estimated damage to crops and cattle, said the prime minister’s office media wing in a statement.

The weeks of heavy monsoon rains have left vast parts of Punjab and Sindh underwater, displacing tens of thousands and farmland, villages and infrastructure devastating culture. The officials warn that the recovery will take time since the waters of the floods have not yet backed up in many districts.

In southern Punjab, entire communities of Alipur, Khan Garh Doema, Seetpur, Latimarri, Azmatpur and the nearby villages have been submerged. In Bahawalnagar Minchinabad, more than 15 villages remain cut, with water levels that are still between five and seven feet deep. Hundreds of crops have been destroyed. Help efforts are further complicated for the loss of access to the road, leaving many stranded families.

The damage has been widespread. In Uch Sharif and Ahmadpur East, the houses have collapsed and thousands of cultivation land acres are underwater. The waters of the floods of the Sutlej River have devastated 67 villages in Minchinabad, affecting more than 56,000 people.

In Chishtian, 47 villages were flooded, while in the Basti Soman de Shujaabad, hundreds of houses were reduced to debris, leaving thousands without refuge. The Jalpur Pirwala section of the M-5 highway was forced to close after being surpassed by floods.

The NDMA confirmed six deaths on Punjab on Tuesday during the last 24 hours, two each in Muzamphargarh, Chinint and fine, all caused by the floods of the river.

In Sindh, floods have emerged downstream. In Guddu Barge, the tickets were recorded at almost 595,000 Cusecs, while Sukkur Barge saw more than 508,000 Cusecs. The Ghotki district reported cotton fields and underwater sugar cane after the waters of the floods hit Ronti’s embankment. In Newshero Feroze, the collapse of the Mahijo Bhan embankment near Kamal Dro drowned more than 50 villages. In Naudero de Larkana, high -level floods exerted great pressure on the protective dikes, with houses in the village of Mitho Khoro flooded.
