- AMD Ryzen ai max+ 395 combines CPU, GPU and NPU in one
- Almost 30 mini work station models have been launched in eight months
- The designs range from elegant towers to Funky Cube -shaped Business PC
AMD is launching its Ryzen Ai Max+ 395 processor as the Ryzen Ai Max 300 series crown, and could be assembling a serious challenge for Nvidia’s domain in AI computing.
Combining 16 Zen 5, 40 units of ADNA and 40 RDNA GPU and an NPU XDNA 2 capable of 50 tops, the chip is designed for Edge workloads.
Its UMA memory system, which allows up to 96 GB of memory to serve as dedicated video memory, is the technological AMD backbone that will distinguish it.
Mini AI’s work stations flood the market
While hardware is undeniably impressive, which is even more surprising is its level of adoption in mini PC and laptops.
Since its launch in January 2025, almost 30 MINI AI work station models have already been launched, which cover desktop and laptops.
Among the mini pc are Beelink’s GTR9 PRO, SEAVIV’s aideastation R1 and Z2 mini g1a of HP, each pointing to different slices of the professional market.
Other MINI PC include the first model based on Strix Halo, the GMKTEC EVO-X2, along with systems such as the MS-S1 Max Minister and AI Station of Abee 395 Max.
On the laptop side, Chinese brands such as Sixunited, Linglong and Tianba are experimenting with portable designs Strix Halo that packed the Ryzen AI Max+ 395 at mobile work stations.
Asus is another popular brand to use this chip in its new Rog Flow Z13, a laptop of 2025 games previously launched in 2025.
Some of these devices acquire a funky and unconventional aspect, more as compact games platforms than regular commercial PCs.
Others adopt tower shapes in the shape of a cube or unusually high, which gives this wave of Halo Strix systems a combination of elegant professional designs and some surprisingly out of mud creations that stand out immediately.
Traditional AI servers with multiple GPUs and large memory groups remain prohibitively expensive for smaller companies, often costing more than $ 21,000.
On the contrary, Mini AI work stations driven by the AMD chip are placed in the range of approximately $ 1,800 to $ 2,800.
Combined with power requirements of less than 300W and compact designs that fit a desktop, these devices offer a more practical route for developers, small businesses and even individual professionals.
Despite the emotion around these releases, there are not many Strix Halo devices of popular brands available for sale, so real tests of real life remain scarce.
In addition, AMD’s statement, integrated graphics can rival the Mobile RTX GPUs not tested at scale.
However, with more than two dozen devices with this chip already announced, this processor can be a sleeping success, but the market will decide if AMD’s bold bet is worth it.
