Pakistan affirms the commitment of the fight against global cancer


Islamabad:

Pakistan reiterated his commitment to combat cancer and strengthening international health cooperation at a parallel event of the General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (OIEA) in Vienna, entitled “Beyond Boundaries: The Rays of Hope Anchor Centers Red and the future of cancer care”.

Delivering the declaration of Pakistan, president of the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC), Dr. Raja Ali Raza Anwar, said that more than 180,000 new cases of cancer are reported annually in the country. To address this load, PAEC has established 20 cancer hospitals throughout the country, attending more than 80 percent of patients and providing diagnostic and treatment services for free or subsidized rates, directly supporting the UN Sustainable Development Goal (SDGs) 3 in good health and well -being.

He highlighted the active role of Pakistan in the Rays of Hope initiative of the OIEA, share experience, training and best practices with developing countries under South-South Cooperation and SDG 17 on associations for the objectives.
