Orca Wiesblatt’s minor connect hockey player died in a car accident in Canada During the weekend, their agency and former team confirmed on Monday. I was 25 years old.
O2K Sports Management issued a statement confirming the death of Wiesblatt.

“With heavy hearts, we cried and shared the sad news that Orca Wiesblatt has died tragically. Orca was an incredible person both inside and outside the ice. He brought his passion for the Hockey game Together with the kindness, humility and his love for the family wherever it was, “said the statement.

“Together with his brothers, Orca helped raise awareness about the deaf community and highlighted the importance of learning and using American sign language. Orca will be deeply surprised by everyone in O2K, and our thoughts are with the Wiesblatt family during this incredibly difficult time.”
Wiesblatt played for the Rock Langas of Athens of the Federal Hockey League Prospects (FPHL) last season. The team issued a statement confirming that the young player died “after a traffic accident” in British Columbia on Sunday morning.
Other details that surround the accident were not known immediately.

“Orca will always be remembered as one of the players who helped establish the tone for our franchise in its first season,” said team president Scott Hull, in a statement. “His passion for the game and his contagious energy made him a favorite of fans and a true teammate. But more than that, orca was an even better person outside the ice, kind, humble, and someone who all thanked to know. We are devastated by this loss and our thoughts are with their family.”
According to the team’s website, Wiesblatt was a Calgary native who played hockey in several minor and junior leagues, including the Western Hockey League (WHL) and the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL). He signed with the Americans Allen of the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) last month before the start of the new season.

“We are all disconsolate,” said coach in chief and general manager Steve Martinson. “Orca (Wiesblatt) was really waiting for the next step in his hockey career. He was not just skilled, he was a hitter who changed the impulse. I can still see his smile when he would return to the bank after one of his great successes. That is what we will miss most, his infectious smile.”
Wiesblatt is one of the five brothers and the son of two deaf parents. The four children played hockey, and despite the financial struggles that their mother faced raising them alone, they were able to continue the sport at an elite level.
