Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has decided to boost his production pause for another week, since he fights with the consequences of the devastating recent cyber attack.
At the end of August, the luxury car manufacturer reported that he suffered a security incident that “severely interrupted” production and retail activities.
The attack forced him to close parts of his infrastructure to the point of having to stop entire productions and send employees home through three plants in Solihull, Halewood and Wolverhampton.
Controlled restart
While initially the company believed that the attackers did not rob any confidential fact, then retreated, saying that “some data” were probably affected. He did not discuss the type or nature of the stolen files, but a group that calls himself “lapsus $ scattered hunters” the responsibility of the attack was attributed.
The piracy collective, apparently made of the fusion of three notorious cyber crimes groups, was boasting the attack on Telegram, sharing screenshots that seem to be of the JLR’s IT infrastructure. They were also joking about rape, asking “Where is my new car, Land Rover?” and similar.
The hackers shared some screenshots as proof of their statements, which seem to be showing internal instructions to solve problems of a car load problem, as well as internal computer records.
Now, in an updated statement, JLR said that “he informed colleagues, suppliers and partners that we have extended the current pause in our production until Wednesday, September 24, 2025”.
“We have made this decision as our forensic investigation of the cyber incident continues, already measure that we consider the different stages of the controlled restart of our global operations, which will take time.”
Disperso Lapsus $ Hunters is currently one of the most active groups that exist. Recently, Google confirmed that criminals even managed to obtain an account in their sensitive portal of the law, which ended quickly.
