Microsoft has eliminated the wraps of what is calling “the most powerful AI data center” in Wisconsin, which according to the company will be 10 times more powerful than today’s fastest supercomputer.
In essence, there will be hundreds of thousands of NVIDIA GPU, all connected by sufficient fiber to wrap the planet four times, and everything is in preparation to train next -generation border models.
However, responding to the learning that they have taught us so far, Microsoft is making great advances in terms of sustainability to make this data center less harmful than those who came before.
The most powerful AI data center in the world
Microsoft president Brad Smith explained that the center will cool at 90% with recirculated fluid using a closed circuit system with zero operational water waste, the remaining 10% of the cooling power will provide the outer air.
Smith compared the projected use of water with the annual consumption of a single restaurant.
Microsoft will also use prepaid renewable energy to match each KWH of fossil fuels with carbon -free energy, while a vast 250MW solar project increases to support the installation.
And this is not a long -term investment or a sign of things to come: an initial investment of $ 3.3 billion will have the first live installation in early 2026. Another investment of $ 4 billion will open a second installation in three years.
Smith also boasted of the local ecological efforts of Microsoft, such as the restoration of the habitats of grasslands and wetlands in the Racine and Kenosha counties and restoration work closer to Lake Michigan, Llarkarek Creek, Kirkorian Park and Shagbark Restorration.
In addition to the 500 full -time employees that will occupy roles on the first campus, and the additional 300 on the second campus, Microsoft also indirectly supported 3,000 jobs during maximum construction.
