Dubai: Andy Pycroft will continue to be the referee of the match for the highly anticipated Super Four’s clash between Pakistan and India in the Asia T20 Cup of ACC 2025, scheduled for tomorrow (Sunday) at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
The controversy began during the group of the group stage on September 14, when Pycroft instructed the captains Salman Ali Agha and Suryakumar Yadav not to shake the hand in the launch.
The incident led to visible tension, with both skippers avoiding the usual gestures before and after the game.
After the victory of India, his players returned directly to the locker room, leaving the Pakistan team waiting in the field, which inflated even more in the situation.
The Pakistan team manager, Naveed Akram Chema, presented an official protest, arguing that Pycroft handled the matter. The president of PCB, Mohsin Naqvi, also filed a formal complaint against the ICC, looking for his removal to officiate Pakistan’s accessories.
Although the application was denied, Pycroft then apologized to the captain and management of the Pakistan team before its party against the EAU, which had already been delayed due to the discussions behind the scene.
Despite the disturbances outside the field, Pakistan defeated the EAU and secured his qualification for the Super Four stage next to India.
On the other hand, Sri Lanka headed Group B undict with six points, while Bangladesh finished second in four.
In Group A, India directed the classification after his victory over Oman, with Pakistan ending second. Oman ended without a victory, while the EAU achieved one.
The Super Four stage begins on Saturday in Dubai with Sri Lanka against Bangladesh. India and Pakistan will meet in the same place on Sunday, before Pakistan faces Sri Lanka in Abu Dhabi on September 23.
