President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to the principles of peace and justice.
In the separate messages issued on International Peace Day, observed on Sunday (today), they urged the international community to prioritize dialogue, cooperation and development on confrontation.
President Zardari said that Pakistan is ready to play a positive role in establishing a peaceful, fair and sustainable world, adding that the country’s contribution to global and regional peace and stability is recognized internationally.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif highlighted the tombs of the humanitarian tragedies that were developed in Jammu and Kashmir (Iiojk) and assholy illegally occupied and the occupied Palestinian territories.
He stressed that lasting peace will continue to be an elusive dream until the people of these regions receive their right to self -determination in accordance with the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).
The prime minister said that Pakistan is ready to play his role and asked the international community to join the struggle for peace, justice and humanity.

Earlier on Friday, Pakistan again pressed the UNSC to demand a high immediate, unconditional and permanent fire in Gaza.
Addressing the Council, the permanent representative of Pakistan before the UN Iphtikhar Ahmed reaffirmed the “unwavering support” of Islamabad for the Palestinian right to self -determination and urged at the end of Israeli military operations.
He said that Pakistan “meets humanity, justice and international law,” noting that Gaza civilians remain under relentless bombings and blockages, with hunger children, destroyed hospitals and families who lack food, medicine and refuge.
Ahmed emphasized that Pakistan meets most of the members of the Council and the broader members of the UN to reflect the expectations of the international community to stop urgently to the fighting.
